Fire Service Instructor II
The Fire Service Instructor II course prepares experienced instructors to transition from classroom delivery to program management. Grounded in the requirements of NFPA 1041 Level II (Chapter 5), this advanced curriculum focuses on the development of comprehensive lesson plans, the adaptation of instructional materials for diverse learning environments, and the critical evaluation of subordinate instructors. Participants will gain the tactical oversight necessary to manage training schedules, budget resources effectively, and ensure department-wide compliance with evolving fire service standards. ProBoard certification exams are held in person in Calgary, Alberta, on a quarterly basis. Please check the Master Schedule for upcoming dates to finalize your certification path.

Professional Prerequisites: NFPA 1041 Level II
To be ready for Fire Service Instructor II, you should already be teaching and ready to step into a more advanced instructional role.
Certification
NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor I with ProBoard or IFSAC seal is required. You should be actively using your Level I skills in your department or training environment.
Instructional Experience
You should have recent experience planning or delivering in‑house training sessions, drills, or classroom lessons, and be comfortable being observed and receiving feedback on your delivery.
