The standard
The Alberta Firefighter Certification Program currently certifies Fire Service Instructor I under NFPA 1041, 2019 edition.
The current provincial prerequisite document lists successful Fire Service Instructor I evaluation for this level and does not list a lower level NFPA certification prerequisite.
Requirements can change. Northline confirms the current Alberta requirements before the certification stage. See the Government of Alberta certification resources for the current provincial source.
How certification works
Northline delivers the Fire Service Instructor I training. The Government of Alberta Firefighter Certification Program administers the Pro Board certification examination and application process. Candidates who pass the required assessments and meet all prerequisites can receive Pro Board certification from the Government of Alberta.
Instructor training is commonly scoped alongside Fire Officer and safety officer training as one officer development program. If you are deciding between the officer and instructor routes, see NFPA 1021 vs NFPA 1041.
