How the lab works

  1. Diagnose

    Take the 50 question diagnostic. It is marked for you by reasoning area, so you can see where the points went.

  2. Practice

    Tell the lab how long you have and your test date. It builds a numerical, mechanical and spatial practice set from your diagnostic and your recent mistakes; the other areas are worked from your downloads.

  3. Understand

    Every answer comes with an explanation: the answer you chose, the right one, and the working that gets you there.

  4. Recheck

    On a later day, the lab offers a fresh question on each numerical, mechanical and spatial skill you got wrong, while fresh questions remain, so you can check your understanding.

Does it cover my department's test?
It covers seven reasoning areas: numerical, reading and written comprehension, mechanical, spatial, logic and problem solving, memory and attention, and fire service situational reasoning. It is not a copy of any department's test, so confirm your department's current test first; the Department Testing Research Guide download shows how. Oral information tests are not included.
What happens after I pay?
You sign in to My Northline first. After payment you land on your preparation page there, with the Open the lab button and the eleven downloads.
Can I use it on my phone?
