What the department publishes
Applications are accepted 1 to 31 January each year. The aptitude test is virtual and by invitation only and carries a non refundable $65 fee to the City of Edmonton. The department weights the aptitude test at 40 percent of the overall score, the resume review at 10 percent and the Multiple Mini Interviews at 50 percent. The department does not brand the aptitude test by product name, but ties its official study materials and support to CPS HR, which is why CPS is worth noting; it is not stated as the test used. The physical fitness test is booked with the University of Alberta at $388.50.

How the lab prepares you
The lab holds 629 questions with a worked explanation on every one. It starts with a 56 question diagnostic that shows which areas cost you points, builds a daily plan from the result, and brings each mistake back on a later day as a fresh question on the same skill. It covers numerical, reading, mechanical, spatial, logic, memory and attention, situational reasoning, and an oral information briefing.
For this department, the lab's plan covers every area.
